ATIS Publishes Equal Access Subscription
– Customer Account Record Exchange (CARE) Guidelines
February
27, 2004, Washington, D.C. – ATIS – the leader
in communications and information technology standards development
– today announced that its Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF)
Subscription Committee has published the new Equal Access Subscription
- Customer Account Record Exchange (CARE), Issue 15 guidelines.
The Equal Access Subscription – Customer Account Record
Exchange (CARE) was developed to facilitate the exchange of end
user account information between providers and customers. It generically
identifies data elements, which might be shared between customers
and providers and supports a data format intended to facilitate
the mechanized exchange of that information. It is intended to
provide a consistent definition and data format for the exchange
of common data elements.
The CARE guidelines allow for the transmission of multiple types
of records in the same file using unique identifiers known as
Transaction Codes (TCs) and Status Indicators (SIs). Transaction
Codes help service providers describe the nature or purpose of
the data being exchanged and details relevant to an order placed
by a customer. SIs, which are unique to each TC, help to provide
specific details for why an order is placed by a customer or rejected
during transmission. ATIS’ Ordering and Billing
Forum (OBF) provides a forum for customers and providers in
the communications industry to identify, discuss and resolve
national issues which affect ordering, billing, provisioning
and the exchange of information about access services, connectivity
and related matters.
The CARE guidelines are available via the ATIS Document Center
at www.atis.org. OBF Funding
Companies may download electronic documents from the OBF Funding
Company Password-Protected web site www.atis.org/atis/clc/obf/download.htm.
