ATIS Guidelines Create Foundation for Basic Data Service Migration

April 27, 2007, Washington, DC –ATIS announced today the release of Issue 3 of its Local Service Migration Guidelines, a reference that will assist telecom carriers in managing the seamless transfer of customers from one service provider to another. Issue 1 of the Guidelines addressed the migration of end-user customers from one wireline service provider to another. Issue 2 addressed the migration of end-user customers from a wireline to a wireless service provider and vice versa. Issue 3 addresses migration of an end-user customer’s basic broadband service between service providers.

ATIS’ Local Service Migration Sub-Committee, made up of numerous representatives from Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILEC), Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) and Wireless and Broadband Service Providers, worked for more than a year to modify the how-to guide composed of existing standards from ATIS and other organizations. The resulting guidelines provide clear, step-by-step direction for various local service migration scenarios, including: line sharing and line-splitting data services

The ATIS Local Service Migration Sub-Committee is part of the Local Service Ordering and Provisioning (LSOP) Committee of the ATIS Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF). The OBF identifies, discusses and resolves national issues affecting ordering, billing, provisioning and exchange of information about access services, other connectivity and related matters.
