ATIS Announces Initiative to Coordinate Standards Development for Emergency Notification Systems
March 27, 2008, Washington, DC- ATIS announced today an initiative to coordinate the development of standards and guidelines for Emergency Notification Systems (ENS). The initiative will focus on creating universal guidelines for ENS providers and users; developing recommendations for vendor development; generating solutions to prevent carrier network congestion situations; and enabling successful call completion and delivery of emergency notification messages.
“ ATIS’ efforts to coordinate the ENS guidelines provides a critical public safety service that helps facilitate every day communication as well as emergency related connections,” stated Susan Miller, President and CEO of ATIS. “We are pleased to have a diverse group of Subject Matter Experts contributing to the ENS standards development process. Coordination among experts from different communication technology companies and public safety organizations ensures the most effective and efficient use of resources to generate a unified solution.”
ATIS ’ Network Interconnection Interoperability Forum (NIIF) Network Inter-Operability Committee (NIOC) is leading the effort and coordinating the input of a variety of groups including the Village of Mundelein, Illinois Police Department; National Emergency Number Association (NENA); Reverse 9-1-1; Aizan; Allport Group; MyStateUSA; and ClassCo .
ATIS NIIF NIOC welcomes the participation of vendors, equipment manufacturers, public safety organizations, state public utility commissions, or other parties interested in contributing to the development of ENS standards and guidelines. Please consider joining the next NIIF NIOC conference call on April 10, 2008.
