ATIS is a member of the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC). The mission of the GSC is to facilitate collaboration between Participating Standards Organizations (PSOs) on High Interest Subjects (HISs). GSC was an initiative of the ITU, ETSI, ATIS/Committee T1 and TTC and the first GSC was held in 1994 in Melbourne, Australia. The joint Global Telecommunication Standardization Collaboration (GTSC) and Global Radiocommunication Standardization Collaboration (GRSC, and previously known as RAST) meeting comprises the GSC, and is the latest in a series of such events that commenced in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 1990. The goal is to further informal linkage among senior officials from the national, regional and international telecommunication standards bodies in support of the work of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). These meetings also provide a framework for the exchange of information, the establishing of objectives to accelerate the process of global telecommunications and radio standards development, and the promotion of interconnectivity and interoperability.
Per the GSC-9/15 resolution, the ITU agreed to be the central respository for past GSC meeting documents -- access GSC documents via www.itu.int/ITU-T/gsc/meetings.html.
