Discussion: Policy Management is emerging as a key component to unlocking latent network potential. Exponential growth in data and video traffic – compounded by widespread smart phones and netbook adoption – will continue to put pressure on networks’ capacity. Policy management functions can help, but current policy standards are fragmented, with different networks and access technologies adopting individual, uncoordinated approaches. ATIS chartered the Policy Management focus group to analyze the existing, disjointed, standards landscape, and develop industry-wide consensus solutions.
After 12 months of work, the Focus Group identified tools which unifies divergent policy management standards, and also enable policy’s extension into new areas like home networking.
This Webinar will discuss ATIS Policy Management Focus Group’s findings, provide their analysis, and outline actionable strategies to enable successful, interworking policy management models. The Webinar will also outline the next phase of this work, which looks beyond network infrastructure policy management, and considers standards for applications-focused policy management.
