The massive industrial effort behind the maintenance of LTE in 2009 has allowed telecom operators worldwide to begin the deployment of Long Term Evolution (LTE). It has also enabled equipment vendors and component providers to aggressively push the development of LTE chipsets and devices. With the maturity of Release 8 contributing to the initial success and early deployment of LTE, this new technology can start delivering essential features (i.e. public warning systems, emergency calls and emergency identification of users) that will ensure LTE meets the public’s broader safety interest as well as their personal and business needs.
During this session, you will learn about: the 3GPP Family Evolution; the LTE (Release 8) deployment status from the standards perspective; why LTE technology is achieving mass market economies of scale; how LTE provides more than a new radio interface and core network; and what you can expect from 3GPP in the future.
