In April 2009 the first femtocell standard was officially published.  The standard, which is part of 3GPP’s Release 8, paves the way for standardized femtocells to be produced in large volumes and enables interoperability between different vendors’ access points and femto gateways.  During this session, discussion will be held on the four areas covered by the new standard, as well as the inclusion of femtocell technology in 3GPP’s Release 9.
